Miss Katrina

Hello! My name is Miss Katrina. I am a Head Teacher in the Butterfly room and am so excited to be at Miss Nicky’s Preschool. I’ve been working with children ever since I started babysitting in high school. In college I interned at a nonprofit that helped families and children in the community. After college I worked in daycare settings, as a nanny for a wonderful family providing care for their 14-month old and as an Assistant Preschool Teacher. After working in the preschool setting, I knew I wanted to work directly with children as they grow, learn and explore the world around them.

In Highschool I took Psychology and American Sign language at the College of Marin. After Highschool I moved to Orange County and attended Chapman University where I received my BA in Psychology. I took all the Child Development classes they offered and fell in love with the field. Working with children in various lines of work and seeing how much they learn in these formative years is what brought me to the field of teaching. In these formative years of their life there is so much growth and learning. It brings me so much joy to see children as they move through their space while they create and learn every day. One of my favorite past times is attending dance classes and I believe movement to be especially important for development. I will bring my love to dance and free movement to the classroom. I also feel that self-expression is important and am excited to encourage the children in the Caterpillar room to find their love of learning through activities, movement, and play.

My goal for our students is to support them in finding what they are passionate about and helping them reach their full potential in their own way. Every child is curious about the world around them, which inspires me to also continue to be a life-long learner. I hope to always continue my education in order to be an outstanding teacher for your children. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful child’s development and growth during their preschool years.
