Miss Jennifer

Hello, my name is Miss Jennifer, and I am so excited to be a part of Miss. Nicky’s Preschool, and to be a Teacher in the Caterpillar room! I was born and raised right here in San Rafael, CA, and I am a mother to five children, 3 sons, and 2 daughters, (4 of which are all grown, and a young teenage daughter). I started babysitting when I was 13, and I have always had a passion for working with children, but I realized that I wanted to be a Preschool Teacher after volunteering in my daughter’s Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms. Even though I wasn’t a teacher at the time, I found it to be such a rewarding experience to work with the children, so I decided to go back to school and take classes in Early Childhood Education to become a Preschool Teacher. My favorite part of being a teacher is getting to know each child, and learning who they are as their own unique individual; getting to know their personalities, what inspires them, and then guiding them, and watching them grow, develop and thrive throughout their time in preschool.

I have taken Child Development courses at both The College of Marin, as well as Santa Rosa Junior College. I currently have 36 units in Early Childhood Education, and I hold a Site Supervisor Permit, Associate Teacher Permit, as well as an Associate Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the Santa Rosa Junior College. I have worked as a Preschool Teacher for the past 10 years, and before that, I had a small in-home daycare. I eventually plan to continue my education, and earn a bachelor’s degree in Child Development. I have lived in the San Rafael/Terra Linda area my whole life, and I currently live in the area with my two daughters, two dogs, and a Persian cat. I enjoy reading, exercising/walking, and spending time with my family.

My goal for my students is to provide them with a fun, supportive, and nurturing environment in which they will learn, explore and grow according to their own developmental needs, and that will foster their love of learning. I strive to provide a space where each child feels welcome, cared for, happy, and safe to explore the environment around them, so they can reach their full potential, and where they will have a wonderful preschool experience! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life, and their preschool experience!
