Hi, my name is Karen Beckmann. I am the Head Teacher in the Butterfly Classroom. I have been teaching at Miss Nicky’s Preschool since 2015. The children that I work with are very special to me and the teachers that I work with at Miss Nicky’s Preschool are a solid team that allows both teachers and students to thrive! I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your entire family.
I am a native Californian, born and raised right here in Marin County. My husband Blain, and I, have been happily married for over 30 years. We are blessed with one fantastic daughter, Grace. Grace is a competitive barrel racer who now lives in Colorado where she is working as a horse trainer, riding instructor as well as finishing her college education.
My second grade teacher was the main reason I believed I wanted to be a teacher. I still remember what stories she read to us, where she sat, and even the jewelry she wore. I loved my entire school life. After graduating from Novato High, I went to College of Marin. After a few career changes over the years I came upon Early Childhood Education. I fell in love with school all over again. I love looking at school through a young child’s eyes! Teaching preschool allows me to be a child again. I hold a California Teacher’s Permit in Child Development.
I have over 30 years teaching experience. I have taught 2’s through Kindergarten. I am excited to bring my experience to Miss Nicky’s Preschool. I provide a print-rich environment where the children will learn through love, laughter and fun! I will send home a “class pet” as a writing/drawing assignment. Your children will write a book that you will see at the end of the year. We will celebrate a new author each month. March will be Dr. Seuss Month. My personal favorite.
My goal is to have your child ready for Kindergarten. Your child will recognize their own name as well as their friends. They will be able to write their name, and use cutting and writing utensils with control and intention. They will be able to count, classify, sort and compare. Mostly they will be able to work and play cooperatively and respectfully alongside their peers within the school environment.
Thank you for sharing your precious children with me! I am looking forward to a wonderful teaching experience here at Miss Nicky’s.
